Most people think success with exercise comes from willpower or strict routines, yet the real secret is much simpler. You must enjoy what you do. When you actually enjoy your training, it's easier to show up. When you show up more often, it becomes a natural habit.

You will never stay committed to something you dread. Motivation wains, yet enjoyment stays. Although, we are not saying you will enjoy every single session, as that's not realistic. There will still be days that you have to drag yourself to the gym, that's where discipline comes in!
However, if you pick a style of training you look forward to, you remove the biggest barrier. There is no point going to the gym and saying "I'm going to do an hour on the treadmill", because most likely, after a while you will get bored and you will start dreading the experience.
This is also easier if have a sense of community. Go to a gym or fitness facility where everyone talks to each other and you make friends. If you have booked into a class and you know your friends will be there, there is a sense of accountability.
